On 16th March in Brussels, the European Youth Forum presented a new study highlighting the impact of the provisions of the Treaty of Lisbon in the field of youth. Conducted by Prof. Paolo Ponzano, the study in particular focuses on article 165 of the treaty which specifically deals with youth participation. The launch at the European Parliament was hosted by MEP Katarina Nevedalova, and attended by Zenon Severis from the cabinet of Youth Commissioner Vassiliou, as well as Giacomo Filibeck, President of the Youth Convention, amongst others.
“Art. 165 of the Treaty is the result of the advocacy of the European Youth Forum towards the Institutions for a decade to recognise the principe that young people must play a key role in European democratic life,” underlined Peter Matjašič, President of the European Youth Forum, “the insightful results of this research reinforce the need to invest in youth participation in the next Budget cycle of the Union”.
